A very convenient 2nd round to go after dinner at Naughty Nuri's.
Please follow here to our review on Naughty Nuri's
Bricks & Barrels is just located beside Naughty Nuri's.

Very nice ambiance with nice music.
We ordered Flaming Lamborghini for the 3 leavers.
3rd try to fire up
Disappointing
The flame dah mati lemas before we even started

Overall, a nice place to catch up with the folks.

Naughty Nuri's @ Desa Sri Hartamas

0

Finally! My farewell from kerang peeps comes nearly 1 year late.
We went for BBQ pork cuisine at Naughty Nuri's @ Desa Sri Hartamas in KL.

The food...
NN's Signature Pork Ribs @ RM39
This is much better and tastier than the ribs served in other famous franchised restaurants
BBQ Pork Chop @ RM23
This is a no-no. The meat is tough and dry. *speechless*
BBQ Pork Loin @ RM25
This is not bad. Meat is juicy and tender, but nothing much to comment further.  =P
The chili sauce accompanying the meat is awesome!! (refillable upon request)

The "lead" pork of the day - - Babi Guling~~
Whole piglet @ RM300
This is similar to the BBQ piglet that we'll have during wedding dinners. Nothing special about it.
Don't really fancy the sweet sauce which comes with it.
Lychee Martini @ RM28
One of the famous "shake-shake" martini.
Just another martini with singing and dancing while served.

The verdict...
Taste: as spelled out above
Portion: below expectation
Price (value-for-money): pricey for the portion , compensated by some of the delicious meat
Ambiance: bright, airy ; packed, noisy, tables are closed to each other
Service: good
Convenient-ability: easily searchable via Waze ; limited parking space

Note: It's essential to make reservation

Address: No.2, Ground Floor, 20/70A,, Desa Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

This might be "once in a lifetime" experience.

Please follow us to our 2nd round after Naughty Nuri's at Bricks & Barrels.

Alessio @ Publika (Solaris Dutamas)

0

Had Alessio (Italian Asian fusion cuisine) at Publika for our first dinner of the year.

We're lucky that we manage to get a table for 11 on a new year day without having prior reservation. and we even have a room to ourselves. *woots woots*
Bar view of Alessio from our private room

Lemonade @ RM6.90 & Italian Passion @ RM11.90
Lemonade was disappointing as it says "FRESH lemonade" but instead it was cordial lemonade. *sigh*

Cream of Portabello Mushroom soup @ RM15.90
The soup is rich with mushrooms and creamy but yet the taste is lacking the oomph.

From the menu, it seems like Alessio centers around duck cuisine where majority of the mains has an element of duck. Hence, naturally we ordered pastas with duck.

Twin Duck Spaghetti @ RM26.90
As with the name, the pasta comes with duck meat and duck bacon which are awesome!!! (yes...duck bacon. it's duck, duck meat. Alessio is pork-free)
It also comes with loads of black olive (highlights to the olive lovers) and the tangerine goes well with the pasta.

Crispy Bacon Carbonara @ RM25.90
As for this, it comes with merely the delicious duck bacon.
It is more worthwhile to have Twin Duck Spaghetti than Crispy Bacon Carbonara as more meat are served with the former with merely RM1 difference.

Fried Chicken and Mushroom Spaghetti @ RM23.90

Crispy Fish and Chips @ RM19.90
Personally, I would rate the Fish & Chip as above average for the price. The batter is just nice and crispy. The side salad dressing is appetizing with a sourish pinch, rather than full of fattening 'geli'ish' mayonnaise. I had tried much worse fish & chips at a higher price.

Croque Madame @ RM16.90
This is for the bread & wedges (carbo??!!) loving madame. Egg yolk is still in 'liquid' form which is my favorite. =)

Apricot and Chestnut Chicken @ RM26.90
The portion is small and nothing special. Not quite value-for-money.
Rating according to the "kedekut expert": Taste 7/10 ; Price 3/10

Rosemary Chicken @ RM21.90

We ordered 2 pizzas for sharing:

Rosemary Chicken and Wild Mushroom Pizza @ RM28.90

Smoke Salmon Pizza @ RM28.90
Thanks to one of the babe who can't wait to have a bite of the pizza, this photo is missing 1 slice of pizza. =P

Their pizza comes in 12" size (8 slices). Reckon the pizzas are oven baked and they come with thin and crispy crust with generous toppings and cheese. I'll rate the pizza as satisfactory.

Note: Plain water is charged at RM1 per glass.

Also flipped through the menu pages and noticed the lunch set menu which is quite worthwhile. (only applicable during weekdays)
Peeps working nearby Publika should check out their set lunch!

It's a blessing to be surrounded by besties on the first day of the year. Love y'all forever Kerang peeps!!
Happy New Year to all and may we have an AWESOME year ahead!

1. Antipodean

My review:

Antipodean is located at Bangsar which can be easily located at Telawi. The food is good and environment is comfortable. The reason of me coming back here for twice is mainly because of the food and the kids play area.

Weekend is rather packed (like almost for whole day starting from 10am till late lunch). The only thing that would hinder you from coming is the parking! Finding a parking in Telawi is a nightmare so if you can, get hubby to drop you at the shop and park at BV.

Wondermilk have got the cutest play area. Cozy and clean. Conveniently located inside the mall (my favourite plus point - a non crowded mall) enable you and your friend to gather quickly without much effort of worrying finding parking.

This shop is not very crowded so if you are coming with a big bunch of friends, this is where you should meet.

Topshelf @ TTDI - Omakase Experience (3rd Edition - 6 course meal)

0

Omakase i.e. leave it to the chefs. This is my 2nd Omakase experience. My first was in Kame Sushi. Unforgettable. This second is no different.

The chef's homemade sourdough bread.

Cheers!

Shell fish (Lobster) bisque with saffron foam on top. Crispy Prawn head. Mirroring latte with biscuits on the side. Nice touch.

Salmon, pickled asparagus, carrots and cucumbers with horseradish dressing. Pleasant start to my appetite.

Canard A' L'orange : Duck cooked with orange to perfection with a twist of asian - crispy wonton skin and honey balsamic sauce. Every component complements each other very well. So Yummy I wanna eat again!

The 2 chefs focused to complete their masterpiece. Yes, they plate in front of us. Really an eye-opener. Before each meal, they will explain the dish. I might have missed out most of the details as they were quite complex terms and I was busy taking picture of my food. (Yikez!) Sorry, I'm hungry, but my camera needs to eat first.

Halibut with mushrooms and clam sauce to bring us to the sea. This is the winning dish. Everything is just perfecto! The fish just melts in my mouth. The mash potatoes are just so creamy and smooth. I thought the tiny crispy bits of mushrooms goes very well with the mash. Like OMG YUMS!

I believe this is 'sous-vide' method of lamb belly. i.e. cooking in a vacuum pack, for long hours and lower temperature to maintain the tenderness of the lamb. My my, I have heard of this method from watching Master Chef, but now I have the chance to sample it! Love the roasted eggplant dressing on the side.

To the very last detail.

Too pretty to eat! Irish Parfait & Lime Chocolate.

Verdict:
Food: 9.5/10
The food taste as good as it looks. Every plate has its own story which the chefs explained in great detail to us. They went through a number of tastings to get to this final menu. With only 12 pax, quality of each and every item served to us is ensured of consistency. The only trivial comment I can give is that plating the hot dishes in an air-conditioned room may not be such a good idea. As the dishes can get cold faster. Still warm though, just preferred if it is a little warmer. Prob have heat lamps?

Ambiance: 7.5/10
I love the decor and the warm lighting. It's sushi bar/communal dining whereby we have front row seats to the chefs' master plating skills. It is an experience on its own to watch them in action, but might be quite hard to engage in conversation if you are seated in opposite ends, i suppose.

Note: Omakase is only available every last sunday on the month (and they are only opened from Mon-Sat), so usually they will serve their normal french menu and the seating will be back to normal.

$$$: 8/10
Reasonably priced for a 6 course omakase meal. Definitely left with a full and satisfied tummy. Would have preferred if they offer filtered water instead of Aqua Panna. RM12 per bottle. However, I don't think this is avoidable in fine dining restaurants.

Will definitely be back to try their normal menu. Can't wait!

XOXO,
Ms Sue_eats

Details:
Open: 4 pm to 12 midnight (Monday to Saturday) for their normal menu;
Omakase on the Last Sunday each month (limited pax for omakase)
