Naughty Nuri's @ Desa Sri Hartamas

0

Finally! My farewell from kerang peeps comes nearly 1 year late.
We went for BBQ pork cuisine at Naughty Nuri's @ Desa Sri Hartamas in KL.

The food...
NN's Signature Pork Ribs @ RM39
This is much better and tastier than the ribs served in other famous franchised restaurants
BBQ Pork Chop @ RM23
This is a no-no. The meat is tough and dry. *speechless*
BBQ Pork Loin @ RM25
This is not bad. Meat is juicy and tender, but nothing much to comment further.  =P
The chili sauce accompanying the meat is awesome!! (refillable upon request)

The "lead" pork of the day - - Babi Guling~~
Whole piglet @ RM300
This is similar to the BBQ piglet that we'll have during wedding dinners. Nothing special about it.
Don't really fancy the sweet sauce which comes with it.
Lychee Martini @ RM28
One of the famous "shake-shake" martini.
Just another martini with singing and dancing while served.

The verdict...
Taste: as spelled out above
Portion: below expectation
Price (value-for-money): pricey for the portion , compensated by some of the delicious meat
Ambiance: bright, airy ; packed, noisy, tables are closed to each other
Service: good
Convenient-ability: easily searchable via Waze ; limited parking space

Note: It's essential to make reservation

Address: No.2, Ground Floor, 20/70A,, Desa Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

This might be "once in a lifetime" experience.

Please follow us to our 2nd round after Naughty Nuri's at Bricks & Barrels.

Chai Bar @ Oasis Ara Damansara - Healthy Restaurant Feature of the Month

0

It's eat clean Monday! As my first healthy restaurant review post, I would like to introduce a new gem in town, which just opened not too long ago. I am hooked.

Chai Bar basically allows you to have your salad, however you want. They have over 70 ++ healthy ingredients to choose from and it is not limited to just veg. But, I am basically quite a fickle person and prefer not to have too many options, so I choose from their fab 10 salads.

Their fab 10 salads are not just the typical ceasar salad. So far, I have tried the Chicken Rice, Bimbimbap, Superfood and Sombrero. Quite interesting right. There is even a brochure that tells you how much nutrients and calories you are consuming.

Chicken Rice - RM14;
Nutrition information : 316 calories; 31 g protein; 31 g carbs; 9 g fats;
vs a normal chicken rice ->
666 calories; 30g protein; 55 g carbs; 44g fats.
http://www.healthguru.sg/learn-about-food/hainanese-chicken-rice/

Sombrero - RM20 Nutrition information : 335 calories; 29 g protein; 23 g carbs; 17 g fats;

Cobb - RM17Nutrition information : 435 calories; 33 g protein; 6 g carbs; 28 g fats;

Supersalad + Poached Chicken : RM20 i thinkNutrition information : 459 calories; 32 g protein; 28 g carbs; 23 g fats;

Quite easy to make informed decision based on the calories count. haha. Eating salad sounds healthy. But some salads are high in calories and fats. So it is good to be aware of what you are eating. For example, ceasar salad has approx. 710 calories!

We definitely need to see more of this healthy eateries in KL. Hopefully, they'll open another branch in town soon.

For more information, you can always go to their website. The nutrition information have been extracted from their website below.

Tim Ho Wan @ Mid Valley, Garden (The Long Awaited Restaurant!!)

0

Finally the long waited cheapest Michelin Star Restaurant is now in the town!

The doors are open! The queue was quite long, even at 2 pm.
Every one is dying to have a bite of the famous baked siew pao.

Menu and its charges. Not cheap eh. That's the whole menu.
Limited selection to cater for quick turnaround.

Tadaa! The famous must-try siew pao! RM10.80 for 3 buns.

They probably need to improve on the consistency of the filling. Not much pork inside my bun. I thought it's not bad, tasty. Ms SS said that the HK bun is better.

Beancurd skin roll with Pork & Shrimp RM8.80.
Quite tasty, Bigger shrimps to justify the price.

Glutinous Rice with Lotus Leaf RM12.80.Tasty, and the portion is quite huge.
We couldn't finish it. Rice is soft and meat is tender.

Pork Dumpling with Shrimp RM10.80

Shrimp Roll. RM12.80

Pan-fried carrot cake. RM9.80. Should try this! Yummy!
Ms SS claimed its better than HK.

Their must-try Tonic Medlar & Osmanthus Cake. RM6.80 I like it.
Quite refreshing to end the tasty meal.

The Verdict:

Food: (7/10)
As a first timer at Tim Ho Wan. I thought the dim sum was pretty decent. I liked the baked siew pao (but I hoped for more filling in my bun), beancurd skin roll and the Osmanthus jelly. But it depends on the personal preference. Won't go wrong ordering anything on their menu, as they specialize in those in that 1 sheet of paper.

Price: Value of Money (5/10)
For 4 pax, we incurred RM115. So, around RM30 per pax. I think that could cover for 2 pax in my usual dim sum shop. Comparing the basic ingredients, I guess, I would much rather take away the baked buns and jelly, the others are decent but probably doesn't really justify the premium? But then again, this is the cheapest Michelin Star restaurant in town!

Ambiance: (5/10)
Ok, I haven't been to any of the Tim Ho Wan so I didn't really know how would it look like. Just a typical char-chan-teng, with square tables like those (kopitiam) coffee shops in the shopping malls. Quite noisy inside, so not a place to catch up etc. This also means, the you don't have to queue outside for long, as people won't linger after they are done with their meal.

Overall: (6.5/10)
I thought it is a bit overrated. Maybe I had too high expectations as it was widely talked about. But, those who have been to other franchises and like it, this concept wont differ much from that. But you should definitely try if you haven't tried their baked siew buns before. It's an experience on its own. haha

Xoxo and have a great weekend (not queuing up I hope),
